SHPE | SMU-Cox Rising Latino Leaders Professional Development Certificate
A year before the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything, SHPE had been hard at work planning a new leadership development program specially curated for our professional and associate members. After a small delay, we launched a new partnership with the SMU-Cox School of Business’ Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI), and in September 2020, we welcomed our first cohort of 21 participants. This collaboration offers a unique leadership development certificate program specifically for Hispanic professionals. For five days, these fellows were immersed in professor-led sessions designed to help students hone their management and strategic skill-sets.
It was a great success. 100% of the attendees strongly agreed that the classes were worthwhile. One participant stated, “[It was] very engaging, bringing all the topics together, so much information packed in.”
“I now know how to effectively communicate the unique value I represent and can bring to my organization.”
We can’t wait to admit a new cohort in 2021, and continue this incredible, one-of-a kind opportunity for Latinos in STEM looking to bolster their leadership readiness.
